Title: Terminal expansion - where?
Post by: Trekkie101 on Jul 03, 2023, 11:01 PM
Given this is the proposed second access road from Gogar - where is the terminal expansion supposed to go?

Realistically they can bulk out the larger gate numbers area for seating, expanding the corridor into a terminal wide layout. However it doesn't add extra gates which are needed.

The Master Plan for 2040 has both these options, but neither really increase the amount of terminal by what it probably needs now.

I think we might see the airport expand out to the front very soon, to give more room in the check in hall. Heard rumours about f new air bridges in the east pier coming soon

Airbridges are expensive. In the region of a million for those capable of servicing wide body aircraft.  New access corridors leading to immigration would also be required. No argument that additional gates are required. The downside of such gates would be the loss of some of the current gates on the east pier that accommodate smaller aircraft.
